As the senior vice president of corporate and government markets for Verizon Business, Steve Young heads a U.S. Sales organization that delivers strategic sales and support to existing and new customers in the enterprise, government and education markets with an emphasis on Verizon Business' network, managed services, data center, Internet Protocol (IP), security and outsource offerings.

Previously, Young was Verizon Business' group president of Corporate West Accounts in the United States. Prior to Verizon Business' acquisition of MCI, Young served as the senior vice president for MCI's Commercial Markets division and held the position of senior vice president for MCI's Corporate Accounts Division responsible for more than 500 U.S.-based, high-end market accounts.

In his role as MCI vice president of Sales Channel Support and Development, he helped develop a Global Account Management Program, including a sales model founded on empirical research that helped the company increase sales productivity and reduce variability across sales units. Before his sales support assignment at MCI, Young was the director of Multi-National Accounts for the mid-South and served at MCI as a National Accounts Branch manager in Atlanta.

In the Atlanta community, he has received numerous honors highlighted by the prestigious Outstanding Atlanta award for service leadership from former Mayor Andrew Young. He also was named president of Outstanding Atlanta. In addition, Young was accepted into Leadership Atlanta, an organization that studies and makes recommendations to help the city cope better with challenges such as growing diversity, homelessness and health care.

Young holds a master's degree in business administration from Georgia State University and is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He attended post-graduate studies at the Sloan School of MIT, Columbia University and the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.
