Once again Verizon Business raised the service innovation bar, this time with a nationwide rollout of VPLS. This service combines the flexibility of IP, simplicity of Ethernet, and the reliability of SONET technology. By running a Layer 2 VPN over our carrier-class MPLS backbone, Verizon Business can give your enterprise any-to-any multi-point service.
VPLS pushes your LAN to the service edge of Verizon Business' renowned network. Our network emulates your LAN switch and bridge functions, meshing all your LANs into a single-bridged, Ethernet LAN, so all your sites appear to be on the same LAN—regardless of location.
Now you can converge all your applications over a single network because VPLS supports four service classes:
And with VPLS, you can even prioritize latency-sensitive applications such as VoIP and video utilizing priority-bits under IEEE 802.1p.
Verizon Business remains committed to ongoing innovation in the enterprise solutions sector. VPLS is currently available across the U.S. We look forward to expanding our VPLS presence internationally — so you can run your virtual LANs around the world.
The Layer 2 Virtual Private LAN Service forwards frames based on Media Access Control (MAC) addresses. Each Bridging Instance learns the MAC addresses contained in the Ethernet frame of the VPLS Flow and forwards traffic across the dedicated Customer Domain based on these learned MAC addresses. This means you don't have to share your routing plans with Verizon Business. In fact, your routing can be completely independent of provider routing.
Services and/or features are not available in all countries/locations, and may be procured from in-country providers in select countries.
